You don't need a coach charging you monthly.
A personal trainer is not what stands between most people and progress. These five things are, and none of them costs money. We sell programs and we will still tell you the program is the smallest part of it.
- 01
You have to keep turning up
Consistency beats everything else on this list put together. Twelve weeks of decent training you finish will do more than four weeks of perfect training you quit. Most people never find out what a program does, because they never run one to the end.
- 02
Three sets of nothing is not training
Plenty of people go to a gym for years and never take a set anywhere near hard. They do the movement, they get a sweat, they go home. If you rack the bar and could have got five more reps, that set did close to nothing for you. Hard is the point, not a bonus.
- 03
The numbers have to move
Add reps or add weight over time on the lifts that matter. If your log in March looks the same as it did in January, nothing else is going to look different either. This is the whole reason we print a target on every set.
- 04
Give it long enough to work
Nothing worth having shows up in three weeks. Run a block to the end before you judge it. Swapping programs every month is the most reliable way to train for years and stay exactly the same.
- 05
Sleep is part of the program
Training is the stimulus. Sleep and food are where it turns into something. Training hard four days a week on five hours a night is a good way to accumulate fatigue and no progress.
A program is worth paying for because it removes the guesswork and the decisions, not because the paper itself does anything.
